St Louan’s: Information For Less Able Visitors

We welcome less able visitors and can offer the loan of a 2” raised toilet seat, free standing toilet rails, shower bench, suction grab rail for the shower, bed rail, commode and chair raising unit if required.

Access to St Louan’s from the street is via a short unmade road. The surface is uneven. It is possible for less able people to be dropped off and picked up by a small car by prior arrangement with the proprietors.

The flooring consists of coir type matting in the porch, carpet in the hall, oak flooring in the bedroom and living room and vinyl in the kitchen.

Although there are rugs in place, these can be lifted if necessary.

The door widths are as follows:

  • Front door – 86cm (34”), lounge door – 83cm (32”), bedroom door – 83cm (32”)
  • En-suite door – 73cm (28.5”).
  • There is a small 2.5cm (1” ) high step/threshold from the living room into the kitchen.

The kitchen has standard height worktops. The chairs at the table do not have arms.

The door to the ground floor en-suite bathroom opens out and there is space for the use of a walking frame, elbow crutches or sticks, but not a wheelchair.

The shower tray has a 4cm lip. The ability to step over it is required. The shower is off the boiler and is thermostatically controlled.

There are lever taps on the basin.
